We made it to the Atlantic Ocean!

Oct. 28.

Blue Ridge Parkway, North Carolina

After leaving Tennessee, we took a beautiful drive through the Smokey Mountains and saw just how beautiful the hard wood forests are in the fall......even drove a section of the Blue Ridge Parkway.  (sorry, the picture just doesn't do it justice)  We had a great surprise when we were contacted by fellow bloggers from Boise, Bill and Gail Delfosse, who just happened to be in this neck of the woods, and were able to meet up with them for dinner in Marion, North Carolina.  We took several days traveling through South Carolina  because it is so beautiful, and the weather has been beyond perfect.

Finally we reached the  Atlantic Ocean.....hard to believe that we live so far away from here.....

Myrtle Beach with Scott and Darlene

We are now in Little River, South Carolina, spending the week with long time friends, Scott and Darlene Harker.  It has been a goal for 30 years to come out to visit them here, and so are really enjoying catching up and seeing the sights of Myrtle Beach.  Tomorrow we are heading to Charleston, S.C. so will post again soon as we travel on.

October 1, 2010 and off we go on our cross country adventure...

Oct. 1.

We left town about noon and spent the first night in Lolo MT.  We then spent nights in Livingston MT, Buffalo WY, Cheyenne WY and then  Denver CO.  This was our first real stopping point as we wanted to visit with our niece Jodie Skaug and Jill's cousin Julie Watterson.  We learned alot about RVing along the way and are feeling more like real travelers now!  Had a great lunch with Jodie and her daughter Jessica and then a wonderful dinner with Julie and her kids and their families in Denver.

Oct. 6.
We then traveled through Kansas to our next goal, which
was to see Steve's dad's birthplace,Phillipsburg Kansas
and were able to see that, and also made it to the
"Center of the Continuous 48 States".  Harley is a great
travel dog, by the way....

Oct.8.

Fun Burning Marshmallows!

Our next destination point was St. Louis/Kirkwood, MO. to see Amy, Andy, Zoe and Jackson.  We found a great KOA campground just 15 miles from Kirkwood and made that our home for 10 days. We were able to see several soccer practices\games for Jackson and Zoe and toured Ranken Jorden--the hospital Amy works at.  Also went to the St. Louis Zoo, the Arch, Grant's Farm and had the kids spend a few nites "camping" in the RV with us.  Andy was a great sport to baby sit Harley several times, and we all had a great time just hanging out, eating out, and camping out.

Oct.18.
We hated leaving St. Louis but were anxious to continue our journey.  We then spent several nights at a State Park just outside Memphis, TN and went to Graceland, Historic Beale Street and got a good feel for the south along the Mississippi River.

Oct. 20.
Next stop, Nashville TN. where we again found a State Park and enjoyed another great wooded campsite.  Stayed here two nights and ejoyed the area.  We made it to Lynchburg TN and toured the Jack Daniels Distillery and were really impressed with all that goes on there.....no wonder they are so proud of their Whiskey!!

Oct. 22.
We headed on towards the next leg of our trip and traveled through the Smokey Mountains of Tennessee and into North Carolina.  We are staying at an RV park at Lake Junaluska,N.C.  The trees are just beginning to turn colors and are getting brighter as we travel east.
